Event Details

About the program

The aim of “Let’s talk about money: financial sustainability” is to enrich themselves with knowledge and competence about finances, define their skills and learn to use them to build personal liquidity and financial independence.

Participants will learn how to manage money on a personal and professional level, as well as how to invest and save. Young people from Poland, Finland, Serbia, Cyprus, Hungary and Germany will exchange experiences and reflections and try to discover the best way for themselves to achieve financial balance. We will share the knowledge we gain with children and young people during workshops at schools, in order to shape among them the entrepreneurial attitudes needed for the economic development of the Lublin region. We will also cooperate with the private sector (Modern Expo company) and the public sector (Department of Strategy and Investor Services of the Lublin City Hall). The goal of the project is to equip young adults with knowledge (not beliefs) about money. Thanks to the involvement of the participants in each stage of the project and the establishment of local and international cooperation, we will be able to take more and more independent initiatives in the future. There are also elements of climate education on the agenda, which we believe must go hand in hand with economic development.

In addition to the main topic on financial education, the meeting will have a very strong crosscultural side. Good organization, a safe atmosphere and environmentally friendly practices are qualities we want to take special care of.

The project “Let’s talk about money: financial sustainability” is 8 days, during which we will verify and redefine our approach to money. We will gain the courage to talk about them, negotiate them, and also… count them.

Participants and activities

During the youth exchange “Let’s talk about money: financial sustainability” we will gain financial education through creative methods. We will create memes/comics based on money stereotypes in our countries, learn how to manage a household budget and how to diversify income sources. We will learn how to name our skills and negotiate rates through improvised scenes. We will meet with representatives of the private and public sectors, learn how to save money in business and how to invest in the city. We will create infographics, which we will then distribute to partner organizations. We will summarize the knowledge we have gained and pass it on in a financial education workshop entitled.

“Let’s talk about money!” in schools for children and young people. The project will involve 30 participants and 6 leaders from countries: Poland, Finland, Serbia, Cyprus, Hungary, Germany. They will be young people who are interested in forming and developing entrepreneurial attitudes.

Expected results

The most expected result of the “Let’s Talk about money: Financial Sustainability” project is to raise the financial awareness of participants young people will gain knowledge about money management, budgeting, saving and investing. They will understand how to make conscious financial decisions and how to secure their economic future. Participants will learn how to monetize their skills and navigate unstable market conditions. They will be able to assess how entrepreneurship works in their countries and what obstacles and opportunities exist in different economic systems. Working in an international environment will help participants develop communication, negotiation and teamwork skills. They will also gain greater confidence in talking about money and making financial decisions. Young adults will learn how to avoid the problems of unstable income, how to diversify sources of income and how to avoid professional burnout, especially in the arts and humanities sector. We assume that the project will raise the initiative and proficiency of young artists in independent and commercial projects, and the financial stability achieved will foster an increased sense of self-esteem and competence.

The choice of Lublin to host the project is not without significance. It is a provincial city, which, compared to others, is economically underdeveloped with quite high social and cultural activity. During the project there will be a workshop for Lublin youth entitled. This is in response to the need to popularize financial education through nonformal education methods. Also important is the impact of the project on the Eastern Theater Foundation team, which will be able to consider new sources of

funding for its activities, expand its offer and adapt it to the needs of the audience. Developing contacts with local entrepreneurs is important for building long-term business relationships.
